Colours of Light

Televisions use light in the three primary colours to make all the other colours you see on screen. Electrons are fired at tiny groups of phosphor compounds just behind the screen glass that glow with red, green, or blue light when struck. The groups, called pixels, are so tiny that your eye just sees the patches of coloured light that make up the picture.

Give Love On Christmas Day

people making lists, buying special gifts,
It's a time to be kind to one and all
It's that time of year when good friends are dear
And you wish you could give more
Than just presents from a store

Why don't you give love on christmas day (on christmas day)
Oh even the man who has everything
Would be so happy if you would bring
Him love on christmas day (on christmas day)
No greater gift is there than love

People you don't know smiling out hello
Everywhere there's an air of christmas joy
It's that once a year, when the world's sincere
And you'd like to find a way
To show the things that words can't say

Why don't you give love on christmas day (on christmas day)
The man on the street and the couple upstairs

All need to know that there's one cares
Give love on christmas day (christmas day)
No greater gift is there than love
What the world needs is love
Yes the world needs your love

Why don't you give love on christmas day (on christmas day)
Oh every little child on santa's knee
Has room for your love underneath his tree
Give love on christmas day (christmas day)
No greater gift is there than love
What the world needs is love
Yes the world needs your love

Give love on christmas day (christmas day) ...(fade)

Chemistry

Periodic Table

*Groups
-vertical columns
-group number represents the number of outermost shell electrons in its atom
-under the same group, the elements have similar chemical properties

*Periods
-horizontal rows
-under the same period, elements have the same number of occupied electron shell

**Group I ---Alkali Metals
Similarities of Group I elements
-have relatively(较) low melting and boiling points when compared with Group II,III and transition metals
-soft and can be cut with a knife
-low densities, can float on water
-reactive metals and must be stored in paraffin oil to prevent them from reacting with air
-react vigorously with water to give hydrogen gas and also alkaline solution
-react with non-metals to form compounds called salts
Differences in reactivity of Group I elements
Group I metals are all very reactive. The reactivity of Group I elements increase as moving down the group.

Group II ---Alkaline earth metals
Similarities of Group II elements
-have relatively loe melting and boiling points when compared with other metals
-low densities
-reactive metals and react readily with dilute hydrochloric acid to give hydrogen gas
-react with non-metals to form compounds called salts
Differences in reactivity of Group II elements
Group II elements are less reactive than Group I elements. The reactivity of Group II elements increase as moving down the group.

Group VII ---Halogen
Similarities in properties of Group VII elements
-poisonous and smelly
-non-metals
-react with metals to form compounds called salts
Difference in the reactivity of Group VII elements
The reactivity of these elements decrease as moving down the group.

Group O/VIII --- Noble gas
Similarities in properties of Group O elements
-colourless gas
-low melting and boiling points
-very unreactive (stable)

Stability of Group O elements
*octet rule---atoms become stable by having eight electrons in their outermost shells

Writing Task 2 (essay)

Do you believe that positive impacts of computers outweigh negative impacts regarding the use of computer on our daily life? Explain this with your ideas and relevant examples.

Nowadays, every household has at least one computer so it is much easier for us to search useful information than the old days. The use of computer is beneficial to us. Therefore, I believe that positive effects of computers outweigh negative impacts concerning the use of computer on our daily life.

Firstly, computers provide young people with a board quest for knowledge and a learning opportunity on the Internet. The internet can provide different virtual learning platforms where people can learn and keep abreast of the situation in schools. They can also directly communicate with their teachers.

Secondly, computers can help expand our horizons. We can learn current news and get a great deal of new information instantly. This helps us get more information and knowledge to expand our horizon out of the classrooms.

Next, computers can enhance the social network of individual young people. They can help also release their pressure through chatting with friends on the Internet. A lot of young people are too shy and they do not have friends to talk with. Therefore, they would find the online friends to talk about secrets of their mind.

Also, we can write on the blog and to improve our writing. In fact, on the Internet, we can find almost any things regarding various aspects of human life. So, the Internet is a knowledge bank.

To conclude, computer applications on our daily life do more good than harm. It is easy and convenient for us to search information on the Internet. Not only computers can expand our horizons but also they enhanced the social network of young people. Therefore, I think that positive effects of computers outweigh negative impacts concerning the use of computer.
