Dear Editor
I am writing to talk about environment. Nowadays, many students do not care enough to change their habits, such as recycling papers, save water and lights. In fact, there are some reasons why they have not changed.

Many students do not save trees. They who waste paper do not use the whole sheet and both sides of the paper for writing and drawing. Also, some students forget that pencils are made of wood as well. They sharpen them too often so that they last longer. Moreover, younger use paper towels to dry their hands in the washroom. They always use more than they need. Therefore, lots of students do not save the trees.

Worse still, many students do not save energy. If they leave the classroom, they do not turn off the lights and fans. At home, most young people turn on the TV or the computer all day. Besides, when they use an electric hand dryer in the washroom instead of paper towels, they use it for longer than necessary. They waste so much energy.

What is more, young people do not conserve water. When they have finished washing their hands, they do not make sure that they turn the tap off tightly so that the water does not drip.

In fact, school should adopt some activities to encourage student to change their habits. Firstly, students start collecting used paper so that it can be recycled. They can arrange to have recycling bins delivered to their school and encourage people to put their plastic bottles, aluminum cans and paper inside them.

Next, if students buy take-away food at lunchtime, they should avoid using Styrofoam boxes as these are very bad for the environment. Also, the school asked them that should bring their own plastic lunch box to the restaurant and ask for their food to be put into this instead.

Moreover, students can collect all their old clothes and have a clothes market at school. In the lunch-break or after school, they can sell the clothes that they no longer want and buy ‘new’ ones from others. Also, students collect the money that school earn could be donated to a charity.

The students do not save the trees and energy, and they also conserve water. These actions effect the environment directly. Moreover, schools should adopt recycled activities to encourage student to change their habits.

Yours faithfully

Argumentative Essay 2

Children today spend more time watching TV than they did in the past. Describe some of the advantages and disadvantages of watching TV.

These days children spend more time watching TV than they did in the past. There are some advantages and disadvantages of watching TV. Now, I would like to argue children have more disadvantages than advantages if they watch TV too often.

To begin with, children like watching TV as the programs are very interesting. When they come home from school, they would like to turn on the TV to relax themselves after school. However, children eat something when they are watching TV. They eat more unknowingly. Also, they do less sport because of the TV. They become less healthy due to a lack of exercise. Therefore, children are more likely to be overweight and less healthy, so they are more prone to diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, etc.

Moreover, some people argue that watching TV can strengthen their brain development because they can learn new things from the programs. However, youngsters who spend more time watching TV use less time in learning. They may get a bad result of the tests. So, children should not spend more time in watching TV, they should focus on the learning. Although students can receive a lot of useful information, they can also see violent scenes from the TV programs. They can make more bad influence on children’s mind.

It is obvious there are both positive and negative effects on children when they watch TV. Positive effects include relaxation and brain strengthening; and negative effects include obesity, less healthy, and polluted mind. We can see the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

These days, children spend more time to watch TV than they did in the past. There are some advantages and disadvantages of watching TV. Now, I would like to argue that there are more disadvantages of watching TV than advantages.
To begin with, children like watching TV as the program are very interesting. When they go home, they turn on the TV. They want to relax after school. Also, children ate something while they were watching TV. More time with television was linked to rises in childhood obesity. They are growing less healthy due to lack of exercise. Therefore, children are more likely to be overweight and less healthy, so more prone to diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, etc.
Moreover, some people argue that watching TV can change their brain development. However, youngsters who spend more time watching TV so they used less time in learning. They get a bad result of the tests. So, children should not spend more time in watching TV, they should focus on the learning.
In addition, students can receive information around the world but some program themselves are often quite violent. And then children have harmful behavior. The language of program is also rude. This will affect the child’s values.
In conclusion, children today spend more time watching TV, in fact, there are more disadvantages.
